Laertes Shroud #7

Laertes of Homer's Odyssey is the one referred to in the “Laertes Shroud” series of drawings. The story Homer tells us goes like this: Penelope was caring for Laertes as his son, Ulysses, was coming home from the Trojan war, but Laertes was going mad with waiting and acting strangely. Penelope was the weaver of tales told to Laertes to soothe him and allay his fears, some of the stories were true, but others fabrications holding no relation to reality; she was the great weaver of the shroud settling Laertes into reality. So the mythic shroud Penelope wove with the stories she told, some true, some imagined, is like the series of drawings named “Laertes Shroud” which abound in spaces, some true and others simply imagined.
